We did the same. Went from 42' boat on the ocean, to 40' land yacht. Call of the open road perhaps? Harbor cruises, and Catalina trips got old in few years.
The idea of renting ClassA is great! (wish I did that, and saved myself a LOT of work). Long story short,.....bought a gasser, restored it, and realized that I need a DP! Oh well,.....every school costs money.
I suggest you look up Craigslist in your area. When I was shopping for MHs, rental offers were annoying me every time I opened "RV for sale" section.
The reason I didn't rent? Well,.....since I decided to go from sleeping in hotels (on their filthy mattresses), to "sleeping in my own bed while traveling", I didn't want to sleep in someone's bed. I did purchase used rigs, but the bed was the first thing replaced (would get very expensive to do it with rentals
), along with commode, couches, etc.
One time (in the WELL known, and respected hotel in Las Vegas) a "little voice in my head" told me to pull the sheets off the bed (before I even sat on it), in a suite that was just PERFECT (with a Jacuzzi tub by the window, overlooking the Strip). Sheets were PRISTINE white, the whole suite looked immaculate. The mattress? Well,....let's just say I went downstairs, and checked out right away. That's when the idea of buying a ClassA was "born".
