Soon to be Damon Tuscany owner
Hey guys (and gals),
Just joined here to get more info on a new to me Damon Tuscany.
I'm new here, but not new to RV's...recently sold our 2010 Fourwinds on a Sprinter chassis, we needed something bigger for next July's cross country trip.
Next week MDB (My Darling Bride) and I will fly to VA to pick up a 2007 Damon Tuscany from a nationwide insurance wreck clearing house. 70k miles, a 4072 model with minor cosmetic front end damage. It should be well worth the $32,000 bid price. We plan to drive it home, probably have to winterize it before leaving VA as it's getting pretty cold here in upstate NY.
Any info on this unit would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike T.
BTW,
my username is stripperguy, not because of my previous occupation, but because I have been building wood strip canoes for over 40 years...

Hi Mike! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Congrats on the new Tuscany! I built a wood strip canoe back in the early 60's but I made the mistake of using 1/2" cypress strips. That thing was strong as a Sherman tank, and about as heavy!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Auction site is iaai.com, they're a nationwide clearing house, kind of like copart. Most auctions are for registered dealers only, there are some public auctions, but few and far between.
My SIL is a NYS registered dealer, and together we buy, repair, sell for profit (or keep for ourselves) trailers, motorcycles, cars, motorhomes, pop ups...
This particular vehicle was listed on their Specialty Division auction, based in IL, but the vehicles could be located anywhere in the US. Other auctions have most vehicles on site.
Let's see if I can post a pic or two...

Hmmm,
AC units and fridge replacements seem to be common, huh?
I may swap out the recliners for a loveseat, and swap the table for a dinette, we would prefer additional sleeping for the grandkids.
Other damage? Who knows, it's kind of a roll of the dice, I've seen some shockers both ways, bad and good. Surprisingly, this one has a clear title, makes for an easier sell down the road.
This one has a Cat engine, I guess I better get schooled on those.
What sort of pdf's do you have? I might be interested in them, the more data the better.

Update for anyone that cares:
We flew to BWI, rented a Corolla, arrived at the insurance wreck lot, and eventually got the Tuscany running and drove it 500 miles home to Albany, NY.
We didn't have a Plan B!!
It sure does run, drive and ride nicely. I'll create a thread showing the repair progress as I go, in the Damon owners forum.
