Start a mobile lifestyle in our 40's
Hello all!
We have been lurking a bit and reading up. Thank you for all of the valuable information and dialogue!
The wife (Kay) and I (Chris) are proud owners of our first RV ever and plan to leave the day to day grind next March and set out on an adventure of seasonal employment and travel.
Coachman Chaparral 31' fifth wheel. Found a great deal and it suits all of our needs (and then some!). We have yet to purchase a tow vehicle. Need a bit more savings and yet to find a deal.
We are converting our primary residence into a rental property and moving to a local campground in Central Florida. The math of the transaction works out great. This will be our 4th rental property and will continue to fund our retirement account while we live like vagabonds in our mid 40's. Life is getting exciting. Looking forward to getting to know folks here online and hopefully bump into you in the future as our adventures on the road begin.
WE plan to head west in the spring seeking seasonal employment.
Our last obstacle in finalizing our plans is health insurance.
Any guidance, advice, criticism or encouragement appreciated!!!

Hi and welcome,
Go for it, life is short!
Just curious as to what your strategy(s) are for the management of the rental properties in your absence?
Yeah health insurance at your age could be challenging, although youth has it's privileges also. Seems FL (central, northern) might be one of the better domicile states in that regard.
Happy motoring.

Property management team is being built. All properties are class A homes with great tenants. I refuse to pay for a "property manager". I have a list of contractors and handymen for all potential problems. I also have friends with property management experience willing to vet potential tenants in person once i get done vetting via E-mail and phone.
I anticipate challenges and struggles and expenses as a distance manager but I am up for it.

That sounds like a reasonable plan & resources.
As you've found this forum is great launch place for much of your research, and your segue to adventure.
Happy motoring.

Sounds like you have a nice plan for yourself. Glad to see that in your 40's you can do this.
