We had never owned an RV before we retired and bought the class A we have now had for 3 years. We looked and researched options for 2 years. We think it's important to also research where and how you want to travel. Will you be camping or sightseeing or both? This will help you understand any restrictions you may encounter regarding length etc. Will you be moving around a lot or staying in one spot for awhile? Then, as others have said, floor plan is important. We felt at home when we stepped into ours for the first time. Take time to "live in it" stay awhile, walk around in it. Make sure the bed is long enough and comfortable enough to get in and out of, make sure the shower is tall enough to shower comfortably. Have a list of "must haves" and "nice to haves". When you find the right one you'll know it.

Glad to have you here with us.

Being you have a while before you buy. The suggestions of renting first is a good idea. It will give you an idea of what is important to you. Additionally, there are several major RV shows every year. Find one near you and attend. It is a multi-day experience where you will find most RVs side by side to make comparisons.
I wish you well with your search and Happy Trails!!!

Glad to find a kindred spirit! We camped in oyr younder days, but I don't look at RVing as camping. I see it as land yacht. We went on a cruise last year to the Caribbean and have booked one next year to Hawaii. That will take care of the water sites. Now we want to visit the rest of the country.

Thanks for your quick response.

Hi and thanks for responding to my post!

When we went to our 1st RV show, we were dazzled by the A's until we did the financial calculations. We also will need driving lessons! The we went to another show and were dazzled by the C's. The C's seem much more user friendly. Everything is still on the table. The only problem with a towables is that we would need to buy a big truck. Currently we have a RAV4 and Chevy S10.

Hi and thanks for responding to my post with your great advice.
I think we have several "must haves" with the floor plan-- A walk-around Q bed. I cannot see myself crawling in from the foot of a corner bed. A comfortable bath is a must. We would like theater seating to mimic our recliner set up at home. A workable kitchen and dinette set up. We do not need the fireplace and entertainment center.
