Hi haven't been on here in a long time. I'm based in Alabama but heard that South Dakota would be a great place to have a permanent address. Considering changing.

Hi Frank, I live just down the road in Snohomish. Have spent some time in Anacortes at Skyline Marina in my boating days. We may soon move up to Anacortes, because we love the area.

Bob:

There are some very good deals going on homes in Anacortes. The market got more depressed here than some places. The County Assessor's estimate on our place is down 35% this year compared to three years ago. It's only showing a value improvement of about 45% from when we bought it 12 years ago.

A 3600 sq.ft. home on the Skyline marina waterfront a couple of blocks from us was a spec build on a $430,000 lot which already had a 40' dock. Initially, the builder priced it at $1.44 million. It sold after being empty for four years for $575K.

The Skagit County Assessor's office has a website where you can see sales history, current assessment, etc. It's at http:\\skagitcounty.net/common/asp/default.asp?
