The search is on!
Took the wife to a local RV dealer today to start the education process for both of us. Our plan is to buy, learn how to use and head out by the end of 2012. This looked like a great forum full of info, something we are in need of. This is my first post of many to come and am looking forward to some new found knowledge.

The search is half the fun! I've been RV'ing since 1958 and never really get tired of looking. We finally ended up taking a movie camera with us when we went looking for our '97 Type C MH. Now that we've decided on a Type A and a manufacturer we like it's much easier! Pick a price, then match the model/options to that. Oh, don't forget the floor plan your DW likes!!

Just by reading you'll learn more than you thought possible then when you reached that point it'll be you'll get more answers than you had questions for.
It worked that way for me.

Good luck with your search and welcome to the forum! You'll get lots of "education" by simply reading on RV boards.

Thanks all for the welcome. We will be going with a class A and trying to decide what to use as a toad. Any input as to towing 4down or a dolly. It seems that a dolly brings more options for vehicles.

Welcome cokeinator. Glad you decided to join us. What area of the country are you in. We might be able to give you some ideas on where to look. A tow dolly do open up some possibilities. But for my money, and I've had one, they are a PITA and I'll find something to tow 4 down before I'll do that again. However, there are some folks who like them.

Let us welcome you too. And, we too have towed a vehicle with tow dolly & 4 down. If you are yet young and strong enough you may want to go with a tow dolly. I found a good used one for $400. Tow bar investment will cost you double that.
However, for us older and less likely to want to deal it & with having to store a tow dolly, the tow bar is for most of us.

Ditto here, last Thanksgiving. Are you guys ever in for an education!!
Best of luck. Remember, buying new is the preferred method, if you want to become intimately familiar with the route to the factory and be almost instantly upside down, on your loan (rigs depreciate 50% in 3-4 years, generally).
But, I've never had so much fun. Seriously. This is danged addictive
