Took The Plunge

I sort of went backwards and jumped into the threads on the forum and started posting there before actually having my coming out party / announcement to the world that my wife and I have taken the plunge and have become owners of a '97 Gulfstream RV.

I grew up camping - if you call having your parents 32' pull behind set up permanently in a park about 45 minutes from your house camping. My wife? Well, let’s just say she isn’t spending the night anywhere without her own bathroom she doesn’t have to walk more than a few feet to get to.

We have had the bug for several years but couldn’t ever agree on the biggest hurdle, the new truck before the bigger camper or the smaller camper to get started, buy the bigger truck later and then realize we want a bigger camper to go with the bigger truck. This “discussion” went on or four years. Finally, we looked at the big picture, our kids are growing up before our eyes and we are missing a lot of chances to do things with them. So we decided to get the smaller camper and deal with the new truck later.

During all the looking (and me reminding her I was telling her the God's honest truth when I sawy my truck really couldn’t pull something that weighs twice what it is intended to pull) I stumbled across the RV we have now for sale.

There is story their also but I will save that for later.

We went back and forth over this and her desire to get a pull behind for a few weeks until finally while at one of our oldest son’s baseball tournaments she came to the realization that we really would use a RV more simply due to the fact that both of our sons play a lot of baseball in multiple locations and having a RV would fit right in with our normal weekend life style and make traveling as a family that much more exciting.

So, she was all in. That is until I went to fill it up with gas on the way home that night we purchased it. Again, another story for later.

Looking forward to the adventures that await and the memories we will create for our kids.

Welcome!
I want to hear the other stories, especially the one about filling it with gas. I'm guessing that's good one!
