TS Select 2002 Question

My husband and I are novice and soon-to-be first time RV owners and plan on being 'full-timers'. We are seriously considering a TS SELECT 2002 DS01 (500hp) 41 ft. and are somewhat concerned about the age of hoses (i.e., internal sewer and water lines, refrigerator, etc.), life expectancy of appliances, air conditioners, etc. The unit we are considering had a new in-motion satellite replaced 2 years ago, but we would be grateful for guidance about what other issues to look out for?

Does anyone have any feedback they could offer?

Thanks,

L & M Trice

L & M Trice;

Welcome to iRV2. We are glad you joined us. I am sorry I can't answer your questions but I can share some of my experience with you. I have owned class a motor homes for 22 years. I am now using my 5th MH. I have replaced 2 water pumps in that time. I have replaced 2 refrigerators that were about 10 years old each. I believe the plumbing installed by the manufacture will last the life of the coach if it does not freeze and break. I have had to replace external water hoses and sewer hoses. Their life expectancy varies by quality and use. I had a sewer hose damaged by a string trimmer in a camp ground. I just visually inspect for any leaks and cracks and replace as needed.

Visit the forums that interest you and don't be afraid to ask questions. We have a great group here who like to help when they can.

Don

Our 2002 TS is working just fine. We've had it for 4 years. Our 1989 is still with us too, the kids use it. The 1989 required several things to be replaced as they failed. The refrig @15yrs, a roof AC @18yrs, a complete new roof @20yrs. Those were the major items besides tires, belts, & radiator hoses. Most everything else is original.

Your RV may vary as to what needs to be repaired. There is no hard and fast age that things fail. I've seen other RVs that still have the original components that we had to replace.

The things that I keep a close eye on are the rubber parts that are pressure containing parts and replace them when they show cracking or are no longer pliable. It's a judgement call. Being able to do the repairs yourself is a plus. Most are simple.

Sorry to new (and cheap!) to be able to help you right now. But I would like to welcome you to IRV2. Try searching Motorhome Class A forums for more experiences.
