Well I have searched all over and found a lot of different information. I love my Tundra and really do not want to spend the $$ for a 3/4 ton. We also love our new 326 RL.

Based on the specs of 1550 (wdh) tongue specs etc long we are within the limits but close.

Anyone else pull this trailer with a 1/2 ton? If so any sugestions on hitch type etc

tongue 1050

If I recall, my trailer was about 600 pounds lighter and around 750 tongue weight. I loved my tundra long bed, but even with the factory HD tow pkg I always felt I was pushing it, even on flat tows. I assume you have a good weight distribution hitch and hopefully a sway bar stabilizer with a good electronic braking system.

To be honest, I think you're pushing the limits of your truck. If you could go to a 250/2500 you'd be much better off.

Look at the payload capacity on the door sticker of your truck. Then load up and go to the scales. You don't say which Tundra you have. If you don't have the 5.7 you are most certainly overloaded. If you do have the 5.7 you still have a pretty good chance of being over loaded.

8100 lbs dry (empty with no battery or propane or a roll of toilet paper added) you use up 972 lbs of payload. A more realistic estimated TT weight would be at least 9000. That bumps up tongue weight to 1080.

Add in the weight of all the people and stuff that ride inside your truck, and the weight of the WDH, and see if you are still under the published payload number on the driver's side door.

8100 lbs dry trailer is a lot of trailer for any half ton truck. Most will be overloaded. There may be rare exceptions where people travel very light, have base model trims, and don't put anyone or anything else in the truck when they tow.

Welcome, I also think your at the limit or over your current 1/2 ton trucks cap., check your loaded ready to camp weight with passengers & hit the Cat truck scales you prob. will be surprised!. You didn't say how far & what kind of terrain you travel that makes a diff. too. Don't want to scare you but wait till a big rig blows by you at 75mph on the highway you may wish you had a real 3/4 truck that can do the job. be safe. How many on here have said I have too much truck? just saying...

Thanks all.. I do have a Tongue weight scale on the way just to check. Based on the door sticker and the specs posted on the Toyota site.. my long Bed 5.7 will be real close. I typically only camp within 50 miles of the house but want to make a couple of long trips a year. I will take to to the scales and get a better idea of what I am dealing with.
