Virginia RV Newcomer

Hi all,

Purchased a Sightseer 35J the past October, and have been lurking around here for a while. Finally signed up! Looking forward to contributing and learning from others as my family finds its way through our first RV.

Thanks,
Mc2guy

Welcome from a fellow NOVA member. We bought our first RV last year.

We made our maiden voyage to Pohick Bay in Lorton.

If you have little kids, Lake Fairfax is a great place. They have a water park geared toward little kids.

We have been to Bull Run and a few places in the Shenandoah so far, but not Lake Fairfax. We have a 22 month old son and another baby due in late May (don't know what it is yet). Figured we better do the RV thing while the kids are young and actually enjoy it! By the time they are teenagers they won't want anything to do with us, and the wife and I will probably be ready to downsize.

Have some big plans...outer banks in April (last trip before new baby), and out to our summer home in Idaho in July. Super excited about getting into this activity...I've always been an outdoor guy, but have never been able to get the wife out camping. Now she really enjoys it...amazing what a hot shower, warm bed, air conditioning and satellite TV will do to improve your "camping" experience!

Welcome to IRV2 from a fellow Virginian (on Smith Mountain Lake in Bedford County). Make sure to explore the entire site since we have so much great info here. You will find the Winnebago Owners section very helpful.

The drive out West to your summer home in Idaho should be enough to convince your wife that camping/RVing is fantastic. What great sights to see out there.

Thanks for the welcome. That is beautiful country down that way. I grew up outside Charlottesville in the foothills of the Blue Ridge, and I miss the "mountains" side of Virginia. Are there any good RV campgrounds on SML?

Welcome to the forum. I live in Greenwood VA and have a seasonal site at Smith Mountain Lake. Virginia is a great state.
