What Have We Done?!

After 18+ years of tenting, DH and I took the plunge and purchased a new 29' 2014 Starcraft Autumn Ridge bunkhouse travel trailer last week. We live in Ontario and are planning on travelling back to Nova Scotia after 15 years when we tried tenting our way during a very rainy July. Our kids are now 9 and 12 so we feel they are both old enough to enjoy the drive.

We were planning on renting but it was pricey and felt that we could put that $ toward buying a pre-owned hybrid around 23'. Combined with the fact that pre-owned trailers are flying off the lots this time of year and there's not a great amount of difference in the price of a new hybrid and a new travel trailer, we took the plunge. We haven't even taken delivery of it yet - first week of June we have been told.

I am trying to do a fair bit of research to educate myself on the different systems on an RV so that I am not a blank slate (with a blank face) on delivery day when I am getting my 10 cent education class over the course of 1 - 2 hours. Hopefully, I will be able to ask some pertinant and clairfying questions.

We are leaving July 12 so we will have to head to a provincial park nearby for a test run in June before the kids are out of school. Fun stuff!

Howdy and welcome. Be sure to check out the Travel Trailer Owner's section of the forum, and ask all the questions you want. We were all newbies once.

Welcome to the irv2 gang, Sharlene! What a great adventure to get children those ages into the great outdoors! I hope the rains and other "weather" cooperate better this time around.
