Glad to have you here in the forum with us.

With the price range you indicated, try looking at class C MHs. Size of the units will depend on what you feel comfortable in. Try renting one for a weekend and check it out.
Good luck with your search.

Happy Trails!!!

Hi Dave,

Welcome to the Forum!

Check out PPL Motorhomes out of Texas for an idea on MH's that are available. We flew down there from MI to purchase ours. It was in your price range too. This will give you an idea of floor plans and what the normal pricing is and then check Craig's list in your area.

Good Luck, this is a great way to travel. Lynne

From what I have read campgrounds in the north east tend to have limited number of spaces fo larger RV's and secondary roads may not even allow larger (mid size) motorhomes. In this case you may want to consider smaller class C's, maybe even class B or B+ if you think you could live in the limited amount of space if you plan to spend much time in this region.

Given your budget you are likely looking at motorhomes in the 15+ year old range, whatever you do don't spend your entire budget on the initial purchase, save some in reserve to fix the various issues even the best motorhomes in this age range will have.

It is really hard to say much more without knowing more about you

Nothing in that price range has ecoboost, lots of smaller class A's and C's in that price range. Winnebago/Itascas are reasonably priced and have consistent quality, construction.

Like Fords AND good gas mileage? Sorry but in my year long research and motorhome search I found that the Chevy/Workhorse chassis consistently get better mileage. It's not a lot better, 1 or 2 mpg. But that adds up in something that gets 10 or less anyway. You could pick up a really nice Sightseer 27c or Spirit/Access/at the high end of your budget. Maybe even a Vista 26, that will be a Ford chassis. Or a Warrior/passage at the low end (I have a 1995 Passage 25).

On the recommendation of a former RV dealer service manager co-worker of mine, I only looked at Winnebagos, so I can't help with other brands.
