Ads on this site
I have been away for a bit - I was completely overwhelmed by ads on all sides, and even ones that slid under my cursor when I tried to click on a link. It is really annoying. My suggestion to the web administrators: Your site is now so difficult to navigate due to ads, that I gave up and had to come back later after a calm-down period. Finally after I got through the missed login timeout (after following the instructions), I was able to leave a post.
Still, please limit the ads. Why does it take more ads to run a website than a year ago, 5 years ago? What changed? How can you market a website that has such a small percentage of it's own stuff and everything else is imported marketing BS?
Sorry for venting, but I don't want to be viewing the things I choose to see through a pinhole of encroaching ads. Just saying...

Use an ad blocker like most of us do.

What operating system are you using?
What browser are you using?
I use Firefox on Windows XP and run a couple ad blockers that are available with it.
The flashing ads drive me crazy so I use "Flashblock" for those.

With both Firefox and Chrome, AdBocker and AdBlocker Plus effectively block all the ads on the site.

If you are logged in, you will see far fewer ads.

I'm on a MAC Book Pro using Firefox and Adblock Plus. Also in the preferences under privacy there is a "radio bullet" to block pop-ups. I do not see one single ad.

I use "Firefox" and "Explorer", with Windows 8. I switch between the two, whin I'm tired of flashing ads. Where do I go, to enable "Flashblock"?

You also have a setting in your User CP/Edit Options to turn off the right column...a place where many ads live.
Between the ad blockers, inprivate browsing & user settings you have the option to limit what you see.

Mick, I gave that some thought before posting but I do a lot of Google searching ONLY when I need something. I don't need things pushed at me that I'm not interested in and never will be.
The real unfortunate part is that I believe (that means I think) the site gets a pittance when someone clicks on the ad. It would be interesting to know how much revenue that brings in.

To add Flashblock:
In firefox across the top click on "Tools"
Select "Add-ons"
Select "Get Add-ons"
Search "Flashblock"
Select what you want and install
I'm using Flashblock 1.5.17 which is good with Firefox 23.0.1
