Are you talking about the back button on your mouse or the back button on your browser? Some mice can be programmed to do certain things.

It's the back button on the browser.

When the mouse button doesn't work I sometime resort to using the browser one. That usually works, but sometimes I have to hit it a couple of times.

Why does anyone want to go back using the browser back button?
That is so a old fashion way to use a browser.

IE and FF both have a Right click Open in new tab. And it leaves the original page still there when you close that new tab.

Very simple to use. And a whole lot less stress.

Say you Google tires. You now have a page or so full of tires. You click one tire link and it takes you to a Michelin site. There is no way you are going to buy Michelin tires, so you click the back button on our mouse or browser. That takes you back to the page of Google search results for tires. Now you can click on another search result.

What if you goto a page on a irv2 and the first post is someone saying "I don't agree you". You click on a previous page, to read what they disagreed to, now you want to go back to the original page to read the rest of the posts. What's wrong with that?

It's da**ed tiring to come onto this forum not knowing if the back button is going to work on one click, a double click, or multiples thereof. Why can't whomever is in charge of this forum keep their darned fingers off the web site? Get it right and keep your fingers in your pockets. It's not the users faults it's the web sites fault.

ok, it's doing it again ... it has to be the google doubleclick ... I hate this, it takes the fun out of reading posts ... and what about all those concerns surrounding privacy, data mining, etc.? Doesn't doubleclick effectively hijack my browser? Movin' on ...........

I haven't paid attention to if and how many times my browser back button doesn't work, but a lot of sites steal my mouse back button, including Google or the sites Google takes me to. Usually if my mouse back button doesn't work, my browser button does.

Why can't these programmers realize that if I want out of their site, stealing my back button is gonna make me want their product even less. My guess that they are kissing the site owner's butt by saying: "Hey, look what I did". It all boils down to greed.

+1 I only use IE if something will not run like a video and I don't feel like getting a FF plug in.

If you are not using Firefox do yourself a favor and try it. It does not hurt one bit and will easily transfer your favorites. You can also easily customize it with themes. My theme right now is Walnut. It looks like wood. There are thousands to choose from. Fun and works.
