Blocked/restricted

The web filter I sometimes have to use blocks irv2.com

I can't change or view it's settings, but I'm told the most common thing that it could be blocking is a ad/website that could be selling something that has age restrictions. Guns were a given example.

This is a family type site. I have to imagine the advertisers here would rather not have it blocked. Maybe one of the moderator types may know how to fix the site so it doesn't get blocked? I'd be happy to work directly with someone, if they'd like to contact me.

Thanks,

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble. We work really hard to keep the site suitable for polite company. It is possible that it's scanning for key words or even links to other sites. We sometimes have discussions about guns or members will post a link to another sites and when we see an issue we react. The problem is that filters are inanimate objects and can't make judgment calls... One solution is to set your filters settings to specifically allow iRV2. You shoudl be able to find this in the menu options for your filter.

if you see objectionable content please use the report post button (little triangle icon next to each post) to let a moderator know about the issue.

tderonne, by chance are you reading the forum at work?

Most businesses utilize DNS filters to keep employees from using forums, craigslist, porn sites, etc, and there's really no good way to bypass this besides using a tunneling proxy and an anonymizer application that reroutes all your TCP/IP packets through the socks5 proxy and bypasses their local DNS entirely (I utilize a method similar to this to secure my internet browsing when using public access points like coffee shops to prevent DNS snooping by undesirables).

A sure fire way to solve this issue is to use you're own personal computer and internet.

Now, if this is a library computer, well, again, see the line above. It's their systems/hardware, they can use any kind of filtering they desire.

One thing that other posters have done-that worked for me Is: set up a new e-mail address (I did g-mail) and it work's. Then Janet informed me all should be back to normal- so I changed it back again- and now it works. If you think your filters should allow email from irv2, but they're not- try adding respondents to your address book.

Unless I'm mis-reading posts this morning, he's running into a browsing filter vs an email filter.

I can get to Craigslist, Ebay, Youtube, other forums, etc. I rarely get a restricted message. That's why I asked, it's rather odd that "only" irv2 gets me a restricted message.
