Just typed a real long private message, tried to submit it, was instructed to log on (thought I already was from a previous visit earlier this afternoon), then told "you have logged on since the previous page was loaded. Please push the back button and reload the previous window". How in the world do I do this? I can't imagine having to re-type the PM I was trying to send.

Thanks for any help to this computer illiterate.

I've run across this problem all my life (22 years as a computer programmer). They easiest way for a 'lay' person to not have this problem is to, just before you try to send your message, copy the whole message to the 'clip board'. You can do this several ways: highlite the entire message and go to EDIT and choose COPY; or you can go to edit and choose SELECT ALL and the choose COPY. If the message fails, once you get back on, go to the new message page, go to EDIT and choose PASTE. Your message should be there for you. The longer the message, the more reason to do this. PS: You don't imagine I retype the quote from scratch each time, it's a copy and paste.

As Joe and Penny stated, but you can also open up Notepad on a Windows machine, or TextEdit on a MAC and past the information, save it, then close any or all programs or even restart your computer. You just have to open the file saved and copy and paste it into a new reply window.

I think we have all gone through this one time or another. It is frustrating, but more frustrating is me using Firefox Cool Preview. I many times accidentally move the cursor off the page and loose the information i was typing. Can you say #(#*%(!^%???

Sometimes I start out typing in a text program and then copy and past it to the forum. Keeps me from those #$!#(*@ words.

Thanks fellows, but looks like all I can do is re-type the e-mail. I don't find any Edit on the Private Message page, no idea how to open up Notepad, and anything about Copy and Paste have always been way over my head. Never have learned how to do it and don't understand the process. Told you I was computer illiterate. I can do normal e-mails, and surf all the Forums but when it comes to juggling paragraphs or pages I'm sunk.

There are two ways to do the "Back button" in all cases and 3 in some..

First at the top of yoru screen there should be two arrows, one points right, one left, in the current version of Firefox (And the prior one) they are on the left under teh words FILE and EDIT, I think MSIE parks them there too but I'm in Firefox.

Second on the lower right of your keyboard are 4 arrows, UP,DOWN,RIGHT.LEFT, ALT-LEFT will take you back one page.

In a very few pages Backspace is backpage but do not count on that one.

NOTE: I have had some cases where using Previous page (Back page) takes you to a redirect page and that brings you right back where you are backing up from.. In those cases, Prior to Firefox 4 (And this includes MSIE as I recall) next to those back and forward arrows I mentioned at the start were a pair of tiny drop down type arrows.. click one (either one) and pick the 2nd or 3rd link down.

Firefox for, RIGHT CLICK either arrow.
