Cassified Ad Rag

After being a registered member for almost a yr, & having responded to a dozen different ads in classified's, (& getting only 3 responses) It's disheartening to realize\think that this, IRV2, is nothing more than an upscale\glorified Craigs List Look-alike requiring a log-in. I read quite a few article's, browse many of the forums, & try to pay attention to what I find that relates to what I own or find interesting, (or would like to buy!). I've made no comments, (yet), to what I read\follow, mainly because I'm "new" to RVing & still educating myself to the equipment\accessories\etc & "language".

For me, (& the majority of people IMHO),1st impressions count, & what i see\experience thru that part of IRV2 is souring me on the overall website. I don't have answers\solutions to\for what I've experienced, but looking around, after the fact, I'm finding Almost NO commitment by the poster\advertiser to "present" themselves to the community, no (or very little), profile info, no contact information, (only hidden behind a "contact advertiser" button?), in most cases, NO location info, (I certainly wouldn't inquire about seats\couches\ac's,etc that require shipping 800mi!) even tho ad states "local PU only".

I think some of what I've bumped up against could be solved when the "new" member signs on, (OR, when placing ad), REQUIRE, some kind of PUBLIC\RELEVANT location, contact, profile info. NONE of this would need to be detailed publicly, some type of "response" when messages\inquiries are sent, by IRV2, acknowledging\affirming message has been delivered, possibly a "review" of ads\postings before they are posted, time limits on an ad, than archive @ end of time frame, (if not edited\updated)

Not intending to be a "harpie", but I see this as a REAL site killer for a place that provides unique service\information for a unique group of people! hoping to sticking around & enjoy the company

Sorry about your poor experiences. Checking on the link to the ad and poster, the profile is blank, never posted or started a thread, just has 2 items for sale. As you can see by my ID, I've posted a number of times, but in all that activity, I've never looked at the Classified ads. I buy from many sources, eBay, Amazon, various RV suppliers, but somehow never been attracted to the classified ads.

Some want to judge a book by its cover. The Classifieds aren't the yardstick & one section does not make the site. They're an aside that many register to use just because they're free. If a member really wants to sell their unwanted items, they'll take the time to compose a proper ad, include as many pictures as allowed (&/or link to a photo site with more), provide enough contact info & respond to inquiries. If they don't, then they aren't really serious about selling their stuff.

IMO, I wouldn't let 1 section color my opinion of an entire site. As a matter of fact, our Forums are where it's at. It's our helpful members who, day in/day out, answer questions & help fellow RV'rs with their issues. THAT's the measure of iRV2.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.

I never thought of IRV2 as a place for classified ads. Its a info\ forum site to me and I love it.
