I have been watching the classified ads and there are some ads going back to mid 2004. Are these items still for sale? Are the classified ads updated at all as to items no longer available? I realize that the members have posted the ads and sometimes either forget to withdraw them when an item sells or mark the item as sold. It gets tiring contacting someone about an item of interest only to find it has been sold for some time yet the ad still remains and still remains weeks after contacting the seller. Maybe you should drop all ads over XX time and members would have to resubmit there ads. Make ads only run so long before they are automatically dropped and then have to be re-submitted. Just a thought.

Derek,

When an ad is placed, the poster is prompted to select the length of time he/she wants the ad to run. The choices are 3, 7, 10, 30, 60, and 90 days. The ad should expire and go away after the length of time selected has elapsed. Apparently this isn't happening.

We'll take a look at the settings and software to see if we can determine why.

Thanks for bringing the issue up.

The software was fixed this evening, all the ads that exceeded their expiration dates as explained above have been deleted. In the future they'll expire and be removed on a regular basis keeping the ads remaining current.

Again, thanks for bringing this issue here for a resolution.

Rich,

Please check out the message that is sent when the ads expire. Tonight, I checked my email box and found that all of my ads were toasted. Here is a copy of the message<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">GeorgeMiklas,

I'm sorry, but the ad you submitted to iRV2.com, titled
"____________", has been deleted. Some reasons for ad deletions include:

- Ads that were partially uploaded/incomplete
- Extremely poor quality/images (impossible to make out the image itself)
- Ads that did not conform to our published site contribution and usage guidelines such as offensive
- Ads which were not paid for after submission

If you would like to submit another ad, please return to our ad upload form:

Thanks,

This seems like a cut & paste, generic message. Couldn't this too be tweeked?

George

I agree, the wording isn't the best, I'll ask someone to look at it.

Incidentally, all your ads weren't toasted, the current ones in the "Wanted" sections are still there. Feel free to resubmit any that you still want.
