Not sure the intext links are a way to encourage guests to become members. My wife logged on as a guest and noticed the word 'fit' was highlighted as a link in one of my earlier posts. When she rolled the cursor over the word, the content of the balloon had absolutely nothing to do with the post. If I was a new guest, I might go away thinking this was an ad ridden site and go elsewhere. I know there are bills to be paid and the revenue has to come from somewhere, but those links might be confusing and annoying to a newbie or guest and not necessarily a feature that would encourage them to sign up.

This is a great site. If some one was not already parked here I would take it for myself and invite all of you to join iRv2.
There's always room for one more.

I actually like the ads!
I'm pretty new to this whole online forum world, and the way the ads follow the discussion is real interesting to me.
It says so much about what the "virtual gods" think I'm likely to buy...as if they knew
Plus, I get to feel all superior because I am, and I say it without fear of contradiction, COMPLETELY IMMUNE to their blandishments!
I like this site and it seems somehow wrongheaded to me to sacrifice revenues that might contribute to its enhancement.....
I'll do my part and pretend to be a potential consumer- they're staying in my window.

But if you're looking to spend money, how about buying a new crop of "smiley/emoticons"?
I love those things, but there are certain emotions that IRV2's present roster simply can't express!

I think the "intext links" are helpful. They're the reason I registered immediately.
