Dangerous Banner?

On several recent visits to IRV2 I have had a pop-up asking if I want to open or save "moatad.js from z.moatads.com". Avast does not like it and paints the banner as a dangerous site. Does anyone know what "moatad(s)" is? Has IRV2 been hacked?

I use Internet Explorer 11 which has been updated to 11.05. Cox is our internet provider. Yes, I always log in when using IRV2. Thanks for asking.

I use Internet Explorer 11 which has been updated to 11.05. Our internet provider is Cox. I always log in before using IRV2. The pop-up has not shown up on any other website. Thanks for looking into this.

If you do a search on moatad it is a reported virus. There are directions on the internet for removing it.

Brian, Thanks for confirming "moatad" is a virus. I have avoided opening the pop-up so I think I'm OK.

This is dangerous but hasn't happened to me. Hopefully it won't.

I'm so glad I have 'Ad Blocker'....I don't see ANY of this junk and therefore am NOT lured in.

Ad Blocker Lite...blocking 1 right now
Ad Blocker PLUS....blocking 11 , whitelisted 15, hidden 1

I have the same problem with another ".js" file on another sites but only when I use a Genuine Microsoft Browser.. So I use Chrome or Firefox.

And the one I deal with is Ad-Ware... But an interesting item is that in many places "Unauthorized approach to a computer" (how one state phrases it) is prohibited by law... Now, I don't know how this applies to your first call to a computer to sign up for internet service. but hey. I don't write 'em , interpet 'em, Enforce 'em or anything but READ them.

I'm not aware of any current issues with the site but have asked our programmer to have a look. I think it's more likely that you've picked up some malware.

I'd like to suggest that you download and run malwarebytes which is especially good at removing this stuff. This is a free download and you don;t have to sign up for the service. https://www.malwarebytes.com/
