Use Firefox and install the free and awesome AdBlock+

I see no ads of any kind anywhere on iRV2.

For Safari try

AdBlock For Safari

Works very nicely. Free but the developer asks for donations.

The Google ads are based on internet search patterns. For example, I was reading threads on tires & ads for Michelin & Firestone appeared in that top ad box within a few page clicks. Earlier this evening, I was shopping for a new quilt for the coach bed (on another website) - upon returning to iRV2 the banner ad had a JCPenney ad in it.

Aside from taking the advice from others on browsers & ad blockers, or just ignoring that banner ad, being conscious about what you (or whoever uses your computer) surf for might make a difference.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Good call Lori, good call. This is why the Facebook IPO went to hell in a handbasket (25'ish loss in value in days) .... NO BODY pays the least attention to the adds. Didn't help when GM pulled out as their call was just exactly that; not worth the ($10 million?) they were spending.

Not a good call at all Lori.
I also get the dating site google ads...
Can't say I've ever searched for any such thing in my life.
It's just flat obnoxious.
You might mention to the corporate muckety mucks who own and profit from this fine site that they should perhaps excercise some control over the content of the ads, cause if everyone on this site installs an adblocker, they won't make as much moola offa US!

Now to load one of those adblockers....

OK then... In Explorer 9, there are some easy selections that will kill all these ads, many of them are in "tracking protection" under "tools"

IRV2, and many other websites, are now ad free.
Thanks to the OP and others responding to this thread for making me aware that this obnoxiousness could be made to go away!

I'm not going to get too concerned until I start seeing ads for Russian Mail Order Brides named "Peggy".
