Groups - what do they do / how to use?

I'm a joiner. I joined a couple groups but I'm not sure how to "use" them. What exactly do groups do, and how?

Thanks!

The Groups are just designations to put in your user name/avatar block so they show up on all your posts. Nothing more to them. Most people join the Groups based on what brand of RV they own, what regional camping group they belong to, what chassis they have...etc.
