I noticed there are no campfires but a some ranking system in place. Is there a listing of the ranking hierarchy and method of achievement?

Last I heard, Andy was working on this. I wonder, though, how accurate it will be since I seem to have lost over 3,000 posts on my post count shown at the left (not that this matters that much...)

It was a nice intuitive to some and hope it returns but it is nothing that requires us to awake Andy after his long weekend.

I liked the campfires, too. I hope they come back.

I had been really excited to get my second karma campfire not too long ago. Seems silly, but I got some kind of enjoyment out of the achievement. Sounds like I need a life!

Thank you, Dirk. Would the counter begin at the time of the system transition or some point before the changeover?

The counter here on vBulletin indicates the actual number of posts that were brought over from the old forum.

Good explanation... about the post count. I'll have to agree with Lori (NLOVNIT) about the Karma Campfires. Not too long ago I received my 4th. I'm sure there are many other "fires" to put out before other features can be added.....

I can't remember off the top of my head if the ranking entries can accept image links or not, but if they can, you can approach it two ways, one with a script that returns the image needed for that rank, or by having each degree of lit campfires as a separate image and then putting the img tag for each one in place of the text titles, like "Senior Member" would turn into <img src="/someimagepath/appropriate_campfire_image.gif">

If BV uses a ranking system similar to IVPB, there should be a "Pips" option under the Manage Ranks area in the admin panel.

Thanks for the explaination on the post numbers. That's too bad the full numbers didn't follow over to the new software. Boy, I'll bet Richard is dissappointed. Wasn't he over 20,000 posts before the switchover cut his number down?

:( with the campfires based on # of posts, and the way my post count has been slashed; I'd be back to 2 sticks rubbing together. Not bad for 9+ years of posting (sniff).
