HELP! Can't submit reply to PM

I just spent over 30 minutes typing a reply to a PM I received late last night and am getting the message " Your submission could not be processed because you have logged on since the previous page was loaded.
Please push the back button and reload the previous window".

I was reading the PM sent to me at 11:29 PM last night and all I did at bed time was to Hybernate the computer then start it back up this morning. No new log ins were involved.

What does all this mean and how do I get my reply sent without losing the 30 minutes I've spent typing it?

I'm sorry you lost all that work. Basically your connection to the site was severed by our server after a long period of inactivity even though you could still see the page. The server does this for security reasons. Depending on the browser you are using if this happens again you might be able to recover the typed content by hitting the back arrow - maybe.

Next time just refresh the page before you start your response. This will restart the connection with the server and you should be good to go.

It may help to type long replies in Word to keep them from getting lost.

My typed Reply is still setting on the screen, it just won't "submit". Since I have clicked on Reply after reading the PM and typed my reply, what does it mean by "Refreshing the previous window"? What would be the previous window to refresh? I can press the backspace button and get to the place where I first read the PM to me, refresh that page, then try to Submit but that doesn't work either.

If I typed the message in Word I wouldn't know how to get it sent as a PM.
Believe me, they made those Windows for Dummies books just for me.

All the suggestions are what I should have done, no suggestions on what I need to do at this present time to get my long Reply to Submit? Really would appreciate any help here. Thank you.

How difficult is it to explain to me how to copy and paste, then to get it to a new PM. As I told you I'm a real dummy at computers.

Thanks for trying to help me get my PM submitted but just now while trying to backspace and reload the previous window per instructions I've lost the whole message. Can't imagine why the server on the Forum would put such a requirement on the members. Never run into anything like this on any other Forum.
Thanks again for all your efforts.

The suggestion to type a long post in Word or Notepad first, then copy & paste it into a PM, post or new thread is an excellent one. Many of us here have been there/done that... having spent a long time crafting a post/attaching photos...etc only to have it go *poof* when we hit the Submit button. More than once I've gotten complacent, especially with the campground reviews section, spending over an hour going into great detail only to have my review go into the cyber black hole when I hit the Submit button. This can happen not just for being inactive for a time, it can be a momentary missing token thing, a blurp in the connection between you & the server or any number of things that make a post not go through.

It's frustrating, & I know it's of no help to you now, but will save you a lot of angst in the future by doing that.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?
