I used to log in and it would stay until recently. Now when I leave the computer for a short period of time and return, I have to log in again. It's very annoying.
I don't know if it is a setting in IE or my computer itself. Open to any suggestions.

It's probably a change in your browser settings. There were recently some updates to IE and we have had many reports of this same issue. Security settings were increased. You may need to specifically allow cookie exchange with our site now in your settings or lower your security settings. We use cookies to keep you logged in at page changes and they are probably being purged as you leave a page.

I got tired of MS changing my settings and turned off "Automatic Updates" on XP.

You can still turn off automatic updates. I haven't found any problems with Win 7 updates yet.

I have to ask, did you check "Remember Me"?

And... not just resetting Cookies, you have to turn them on so you accept cookies.

John,
Go through all the pull down menus and setting for IE. Look for something that tells you to check this block to empty caches, cookies, history, etc., If it is checked uncheck the cookies. Or even uncheck them all. You can always go in once in a while and clean everything out.

Good luck.

Oh! You could switch to Firefox, Safari, or Chrome. Hee hee!

Thanks dunner and Wayne, I just logged in and finished a big response to both posts and when I hit reply I lost it because I was logged out already. What I said was I did reset the cookies to not delete with history and not sure where to check Win 7 update, but will check it out.

I have the same problem, I often have to log back in and then I can't remember what I was last reading.

Only difference, I'm using the irv2 iPad app.

If you are speaking of the forums... When you log in there is a check box to keep you logged in.

With either MSIE or Firefox or Chrome there is a program "Last pass" it acts and an external bookmark and password "Vault" and will (if properly set) log you back in at the click or two of a mouse. https://lastpass.com/

A must useful program.

John,
I feel the pain. My problem is just a little different. I only check the web in the morning and again in the evening. There can be 7 or 8 pages of new posts, and sometimes 10 if I didn't check it soon enough. If I become my verbose self and start posting replies then when I advance to the next page it is blank and I have to select "New Posts," again. I don't get logged out completely.

So, when I know that I'm going to get on the soap box I'll do one of two things. One is that as I type a paragraph or so (I type at 70 wpm) I'll hit "Ctrl+A" (Cmmd+A on MAC) and then Ctrl+C. This copies what I have already typed into the clipboard. So If for some reason I move off of "Cool Previews," or loose the page, I just come back in and do a "Ctrl+v" and paste it in.

My second method is to open Notepad, or any text editor will do, and type everything into the editor. Then when I' finished I can proof (Proof? What's that?), copy and paste into the forum reply box.

I know that doesn't "solve" your problem and is just a work around. Hope you get it figured out, and please post a "quick fix" when you do.
