Would it be possible to add an interface into the iRV2 app to be able to log into the chatroom with it?

Thanks for asking. I can pass this on to the developer but as the chat room is a java based add-on - it's likely that it's not going to be possible.

The front end of the chatroom is Java based, however, the back end that actually handles most of the communication should be some format of stream based, which should in theory be possible to port to a simplified web app interface.

I don't mean to hijack a thread but what I have in mind is an enhancement also.
What I would like to see is an app extension that would allow me to look up a boondocking or overnighting location within a radius of my location as determined by the GPS OR by my entering a location. Part of this would be a way for users to enter boondocking or overnighting locations.
I realize that this is a non-trivial development but very valuable.
I should add that I love the app.

That app already exists, several of them for all needs, by Allstays, they're available on the Android Market .

Thanks for the Allstays tip, they seem quite useful. I looked them over and none actually line up with what I have in mind.
Example of what I have in mind:
There is a dirt lot in Barstow off of I-15 just behind the Flying J that is a good overnight spot.
I would like a systemic way to share this information.

Any possibility of adapting this app for the Kindle Fire?

If your kindle fire has an android based operating system, in theory you should be able to download it via the android marketplace.

The Kindle Fire uses the Amazon app store and there are some issues with it. A developer has to go through some hoops to create a special version of the app for Amazon (they don't use the pure Android market, only their own so they get their 30% take instead of Google). And then the Kindle Fire has some further requirements beyond that to make it a challenge.

You can sideload android apps to a Kindle Fire and by-pass Amazon. You need the "Easy Installer' app from Amazon for the Fire and the Astro File Manager for your Android.

Great idea. If we could get someone to create an app like Gas Buddy (completely user data supplied) we would be in business. I envision an RV2 app that all the data came from us. Eventually other RVers would see it and see it as a very useful app. Certainly they would pay a few bucks for it! I think it would also attract more folks here. I would be very inclined to donate to this cause to get it up and running. What say you, RV2?

Thanks - I'll give this a try, although Amazon has this thing pretty well locked down. Sideloading hasn't worked too well although surprisingly I was able to get the Barnes & Noble Nook reader on it. Go figure....
