Thank you for your action on this. Thankfully I have not seen the anger that forced me from other sites and I hope it stays that way.

Unhappy Rules on Political Discussions

Don't you just hate it when you have to develop rules, regulations, restrictions, and directions for people who have missed the point on this website being an RV-oriented thing? It's too bad. What do you call it when you have a burning passion, but it's misdirected?

Yes ,but remember your right to RV can be taken away if you don't speak out and banning conversation may and can be the start to that end!

I'm with Janet. You have to have some guidelines or it all goes to hell in a hand basket!

Janet-just dropping in to comment about 14 pages of rules and changes. Not for nothing, but there is no way I would invest that kind of time into that.Might I suggest you sticky a thread stating what they are so no one could post to that thread and it would be tons easier for newbies and peepers like me to look at.

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks for the comment. New members see a copy of the current rules when they register and then get a link via PM when they activate their accounts. There is also a link at the bottom of the page to the rules. The reason for this rambly thread was to help long-time members understand the change and the reasons for it. Existing members are less likely to read the rules and new members follow the posting lead of more established members and so this thread seemed important.

One of the things I love about forums is that members talk about everything and I suppose a change such as this one is grist for the mill as well. In the few weeks since this change we have had many fewer spats and flame fests. The board seems more focused on RVing and having fun. The arrival of Spring may have helped as well

Also, our Community Rules are linked to in the definition of the New Member's Check In Forum as well as a sticky thread within that Forum. That's 5 places to get a chance to read them.

There is great need for a sarcasm font.
