Wayne--I believe it depends on when you initiated the subscription. If you received the "complimentary" 2-year supporter status, your PayPal account does not have the automatic payment set up. Here's how to check PayPal...

Log in to your PayPal account.
Click Profile at the top of the page.
Click My Money, then click Update beside My preapproved payments to find your payment. (The iRV2 recurring payment is to 'Social Knowledge LLC'.)

BIG turnoff

As SCVJeff wrote

Whoever wrote that email needs a course in voluntary donation school, because this is a slap in the face for an ad supported website that I personally use (the ads) often. They need to go back and completely start over, explain what it is, why, and what the options are, rather than just saying send this completely off-the-wall amount or my "access will be removed" (that's a quote). Really? With that wording and attitude I know exactly what my response will be.

I was disappointed that I got such an abrupt email ... with no mention of what I was getting for my $15 and suggesting that I would be cut off from the forum. I expect better from this organization ... it reflecting badly on those of us who post here as well as the advertisers.

I suggest at the very minimum that whoever wrote that email never write another email.

Wow! What a cluster F#€! It's been explained many times in this thread what the email is about, why and how to avoid re-occurring Paypal withdrawals, doesn't anybody read the previous posts before going on a typing rampage!

IT'S FREE and always will be! Lol

The profile album photos option isn't enabled here. Here's info on photos (from the Forums 101 thread) - insert iRV2 Supporter for "contributing members" in the following statements:
Quote:
About attachment storage limits

When you upload a copy of an image file (or other attachment) it is stored on our servers. There are some restrictions on how much data can be stored.

Registered members are limited to 50 MB of attachment storage for items posted to threads and posts and 100 MB for files posted to the photo gallery. We highly recommend that you reduce file sizes before uploading them to posts and threads.

Contributing members have unlimited attachment storage for threads and posts. A contributing membership is an annual commitment. If a contributing membership reverts to a standard account, loaded images will still remain, but if you have exceeded the storage limits of a standard member account (50 MB), you may be unable to load more attachments. And remember ... all images loaded to posts (regardless of your membership status) must meet the size requirement above. If they are larger, they will fail to load.
You can see how much photo storage you've got & used when you go to upload photos. Being an iRV2 Supporter can make a difference, especially if you upload as many photos as you & I do. Look at the box at the top of the upload page (here's mine):

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

I have no problem with the $15.03. What I am concerned about it that I received my email about the expiration on 12/29 and my supporter status was taken away 01/01 before I had a chance to renew. Other than that, I have no problems. I have paid now and hope it won't take long to reinstate it.

Thank you. While I was typing the last message, my supporter status was reinstated. Good job!

This 'Supporter' program might be more of a liability than an asset to iRV2. I used to manage a utility billing agency. If I rendered a bill that was due two days after the billing date and then immediately terminated service for those that hadn't paid, I would have been run out of town after being fired. Now, losing an 'irv2 Supporter' emblem does not rise to the level of having a utility turned off, but it's still mildly insulting.

Did anyone one at iRV2 consider the timing of this notice (not to mention the automated wording) during the holiday season?
Did anyone consider the two day due date?
Did anyone consider that immediately terminating the status would possibly antagonize some loyal members?
Did anyone think?

Go back about six posts for an explanation / apology.

Don't expect people wanting to be upset to read the facts and apologies. They'd rather remain upset and tell the story THEIR way!

If you're referring to the explanation about the wording of the initial notice, I saw that. The point I'm getting at is the compounding of errors by terminating the status two days after advising that a payment was due. At best, the program is being carelessly managed in my opinion.

Some people just like to hear themselves rant.

Maybe it's the fact that he received a complimentary 2 year membership for free and then had to pay $15.03 to keep it that set him off.

It's amazing what a few bucks will do to some people.

This is still going on? A mistake was made & an explanation/apology offered. Yes, this wasn't communicated well nor timed ideally. We acknowledge that. It was a complete oversight on our part to not have informed you the free upgrade came with an expiration date when we rolled the program out in 2012. I don't think there's one amongst us that hasn't screwed up or regretted something we've said or done at some point in our lives.

We're truly sorry for the confusion & obvious angst this has caused the members who received that message. Please, won't you forgive us? It is New Year's.....after all.
