Right on Wayne, after 31 years in the Air Force and continued work in aviation business for another 20 years, the 24 hr clock just seems natural and right to me.

We used Zulu of course for air movements and all tactical ops and as you know, this is something all military and civilian ATC and Maritme folks live with every day. I cannot imagine why everyone would not use a 24hr clock. But so be it - we can adapt to almost anything. So "08:47 PM" it is for this site. I was just curious why it was so. Route 66 responded to that.

Overall the IRV2 systems and moderator guys do a good job thus enabling us all to become better informed by sharing our experiences and knowledge.

It is a bad day if I don't learn something.

I learn something everyday. Just can't help it.

Sometimes when someone asks me what time it is I'll show them the face of my digital watch. It is set for 24 hour time. So if it is past 1200 (not to be confused with 0000) they get a perplexed look on their face. Then it is explanation "time." When asked why I keep the time that way i say:

Well, suppose that you receive a phone call on your cell and someone is flying in to meet with you and during the conversation they say, "I'll be landing at 415#($&@ crackle/snap/pop as the circuit goes dead. Did they say 415 in the morning or 415 in the afternoon. If they had used the 24 hour clock system and said 1615 there would be no doubt, or if they had said 0415 there would be no doubt as understanding the 24 hour time system does not lead to confusion."

I just felt like typing something tonight. (Not that I have problems typing any other time.)
