This may have been mentioned, but it's possible one of the advertisement servers may be the problem...

on an Audi forum I frequent, there was a few days that one of the ad hosting servers had not only response issues, but malware that they were nice enough to distribute on some of their ads :(

Which may explasin why some are having issues and others are not....
some see some ads, some see all, some see none ...

Tracert results

My pc was noticeably stalling when I was checking out irv2 this morning. The Forums page is taking between 6-7 seconds, no matter how many times I return after visiting other pages. When I click on a subject of interest it is consistently taking 4-5 seconds to load those pages. This is unusual. Usually pages here load in less than 2 seconds.

I just checked my Android phone irv2 app. and it is loading pages faster than ever.

I tried the (tracert www.irv2.com) and here are the results, although I have no idea how to read or understand what it means.

Keep in mind that they do maintenance around 3AM MST. Some times you will get a message to "Please Wait" and sometimes it is just slow for a bit.

Nope, IE 10. Windows 7, 64bit, W/4Gb ram, 250Gb hard drive W/120Gb free. Pentium Dual core 2.20GHz processor. Again what ever all this stuff means. Thought it might have something to do with the slow loading. All the other web pages I visited today loaded normally.

Does that trace I did show anything interesting? I have no idea what it shows.

just a note, I did a 'Preview Post', while writing this, and it took about 7 seconds for the preview to show after clicking the 'Preview Post' button.

Thanks, Wayne

Opera used to have a digital timer extension for page load times, but I can't find it anymore.

Your trace is clean. Pings are good. The problem is one of the ad servers..

Wayne, just download Firefox and try it. You will be amazed! I was VERY reluctant to leave Internet Explorer as it was the only thing I have ever used. The folks on here finally convinced me to try something else and I can't believe I haven't done it years ago!
Firefox has lots of approved add-ons that are great!
Download AdBlock Plus to go along with it.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I have never until today had an issue with iRV2 being slow . Today it is as slow as molasses in January. (pun intended) I use Windows 7 & IE. I shut down IE and loaded Firefox and tried that. It made no difference except I got a box that appeared on the lower left of my screen that had a spinning wheel and a message that said edge.quantserve.com. I tried it several times and when the screen froze I would get that message.

I have been having trouble with irv2 being slow for na week or so. It's still slow today, but not quite as bad as two days ago. All of the other sites I go to daily are fine, no problem. Only this site. Hope someone can fix it soon.

Since I threw the idea of running a trace route out there without explaining it, I'll attempt to do that now using one line from Wayne's trace route return above.

Code:
7 21 ms 24 ms 21 ms pos-0-6-0-0-cr01.charlotte.nc.ibone.comcast.net
[68.86.91.149]
Each line of the trace route return is called a "hop". Each hop can broken down into four pieces of information. The hop number, the ping times, the name of the network server/switch/router, and the IP (Internet Protocol) address of said server/switch/router. In the example cited above we are looking at hop #7 with returned ping times of 21 milliseconds, 24 ms and 21 ms from server/switch/router pos-0-6-0-0-cr01.charlotte.nc.ibone.comcast.net at IP 68.86.91.149.

Everything stated in the above paragraph is pretty self explanatory except the term ping times. When a trace route is requested the trace route function determines the path to the network destination and sends a series of three pings to each network component (server, switch or router) along the path. Each ping is made up of a measured packet of data. The time it takes for the packet to leave your computer, reach it's destination and then return to your computer is the ping time, always measured in milliseconds. The lower your ping times are, the better the connectivity and throughput your network connection has to that particular destination.

In Waynes trace route return above, it indicates Request timed out at hop #12. Basically that means that the ping packet never returned and could possibly be a bottleneck in the network. If another few trace routes are run and all of the ping times look good but there is still a network component that is timing out then it is the network that is the problem and not the destination.

I hope this is helpful and if I've left anything out please let me know.

I wonder how the other forums survive without having so many ads and run 3 times as fast. I've been on other types of forums with the same software and they aren't slow.

The problem here started about the 16th with a big windows update. The wives win 7 computer never did recover so I gave her one with XP. This computer is having IE8 lock up issues and my work computer and a lot of other peoples work computers are having issues and we have a very high level IT department of about 60 people and there wispers of a bad update . Nobody really has a clue at this point but it's everywhere.
