I don't understand how anyone can think that just posting "the forum was slow," warrants any type of reply!

So much missing information (see previous post(s)).

Oops! I replied.
Not slow here, never has been, but I am using

Firefox

Cable Network at 20 mbps download, 3.5 mbps upload

Adblock Plus add-on for Firefox so the ads are blocked. I don't even have a flame under the avatars, that is how much blocking I have.

Typical web page load on iRV2 has been 2 seconds or less.

So, now, who has the problem and what browser are you using.

Do not even try to tell me that it doesn't make a difference. If you do a Google search on your particular browser and state that it is slow, you will most likely find information, and some of it will go back several years for one particular browser known to have loading problems.

Maybe we should set up two poles in one thread. Browser type, and is it slow?

Well, it sure as hell is. Maybe it's a function of how many members we've got. Whan I logged on just now, from the time I clicked on the "favorite" for the site, IE8 took 2 minutes 40 seconds to get the first page up. I only had Windows Task Manager running at the time.

When I then selected "new posts" (and I was on two days ago), it took another 90 seconds. Maybe the site is being bogged down by the number of members?

I really enjoy being part of this community, but the time it takes to get into the podtings is really becoming a royal PITA.

Does the "New Posts" filter work on individual forums (it maybe should be "fora")?. There are quite a few that I have no interest in. If "new posts" can be used within each of the forum categories, it would make my browsing a lot less time-consuming.

IE8 is slow, it has been stated in many posts that IE8 is slow. It has been suggested many, many times to try Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc...

Why do so many insist on cursing the darkness (complaining about the speed) rather than light a candle (try one of the other browsers).

If you insist on IE8, your experience will be frustrating. If you are willing to try something new I'm sure you will enjoy the lightning speed.

I hope someone at the top soon looks at what is going on.
Can only assume your are using IE8 to browse the web. Give Firefox, Safari or Chrome a try.

iRV2 has responded several times, browse the thread.

I can agree. FWIW, I was one of the biggest holdouts using IE8. Didn't want to even try another browser. I figured, what the heck, I'll try FF since so many other members recommended it. Guess what? iRV2 is page loading faster & runs much smoother.

At work, most everyone uses FF. IE8 was on my laptop when I got it, I was used to it so I didn't change the browser. In the past month or so, I've been experiencing slow loading of our membership relationship manager site I access via www. For the heck of it, based on what I've read in this thread, I downloaded FF. What do you know, the manager loads faster & going from page to page is faster.

I realize it's frustrating when you want to think: It shouldn't make any difference what browser I use, they ALL should work great ALL THE TIME! Well, it seems they don't & I've come around to trying different ones to determine which one will meet my current needs.

Will I stay with FF? Who knows? Right now it's working for me, both at home & at work. If the situation changes, I'll be open to trying something else. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.....at least as far as browsers are concerned (for me).

Not sure what has happened but I didn't do anything on this end and IRV2 is very fast for the past two days. A real pleasure once again.

Try CCleaner for removing leftover files from uninstalled programs.

Maybe, just maybe, one should consider these searches for a possible solution.

IE8
IE8 slow to load web pages

Firefox
Firefox slow to load web pages

Chrome
Chrome slow to load web pages

Safari
Sasfari slow to load web pages

However, as stated by so many, the browser does make the difference.

They all do have problems from time to time.

Summing this up:

1. One year ago IRV2 loaded at good speed.

2. Some months ago IRV2 loaded/no loaded at very slow speed.
Advice: Get FF.

3. Today, on same old IE, IRV2 loads as per one year ago.

4. Using deductive thinking or logic, what happened ??

Kerry

Kerry,
My deductive logic says that there was a recent update to IE and things are back to the beginning again. This has happened many times in the past.

IE8 disabled my delete key for Outlook Express. An un-install of IE8 didn't fix it and neither did a restore, to any date.

Question, if it were just updates that was causing the problem, why is it only on IRV2 that people are having the greatest slowness problem? Mine is a lot better with ad blocker but there is a short pause still and the page gives a quick jump and scrolls down a bit everytime so I have to move the page back up a bit as the jump has cut off half of the post! This only happens on IRV2 so it is not a update problem.
