Lori, I've posted several times about stopping the ads for a day or several hours to see if it would fix or lessen the problem and got absolutely not response. Just why is that? Potential lose of revenue? Legal reasons? Admitting that is the problem? It's only normal for the site owners to want make the most out of advertising, but, come on; There has to be a limit. How many of the 100,000+ registered members are still here or said, enough is enough?

Dunner, I don't know. I have asked that very question.

I'm not the site owner. Just an Admin - a volunteer who is responsible for the day-to-day support of our Mission Statement. I don't have knowledge of the financial ins & out's of this website.

Nor can I answer your question about the 100,000+ members. I only know that of those, only a VERY small fraction are even active posters (just look at the Members List by post count - greater than 70% of those are once-&-done registrations, never to be heard from again). An even smaller fraction of a fraction have reported issues - this includes me.

Although the numbers with issues is small, Janet has already stated she & our Tech Admin are monitoring this thread. I believe they are & are trying to figure this out but it's got to be a daunting task, given the lack of info they've received. I do know that we've received only 4 tracerts (5 if you include mine) that Janet had asked members with this slowness issue to send via the Contact Us link. Even I know that's not enough feedback to work with. They can't help if they're not getting the info from the computers having the problems.

Help them help you. IE users (or anyone else having slowness) : send those tracerts (instructions in post #14 this thread) as well as your brower version, OS, security...etc via the Contact Us links (top & bottom of every page).

Thx for the reply Lori. I use Opera and rarely have the slow-down problem. When I do, it doesn't last long enough to pursue and usually on just one thread. Perhaps someone could waste their time by asking Microsnot it they could help. Good luck with that.

I just did about 25 tracerts and none were consistent. Sometimes it would hang on hop 5 or 6 and other times it would be 5 and 6 and/or 8.

Here's a thought. How bout the Tech Admins use the same browsers (IE) from an off-site location and try to duplicate the problem. Might make it easier to find the slow-down.

I find it irritating that someone will register to post a question, get an answer and never reply or give a thanks if it solved their problem.

If the site owner(s) only care about profits from ads, they will never instruct the techs to pursue the problem. As posted many, many times, this is the only RV site that is slow.

Why do I care if it doesn't effect me and I don't get slow-downs? It's just the way I am.

OMG! I just compared irv2.com to rv.net with IE8 on my XP desktop. What a nightmare. I didn't even bother to time IE8 as it was s-l-o-o-o-o-w-- s-l-o-o-o-o-w.

This tells me that if it works fine on rv.net, the problem is with irv2.com. FIX IT!
IE may have problems with the way it handles irv2.com, but why not other sites?

The bean counters (site owners) need to realize that, if the site worked properly, they just might make more money from additional "Supporters" than they do from the ad profits.

If I was new to the site, using IE, and it did this more than once, I would never come back.

Don't mean to offend anyone, just calling it like it is as I see it.

OH- BOY

I have said this all along, why should people have to download all the differant browsers and add blockers and all the other BS that others have posted just to try and speed up IRV2? No other web sites I use and go to loads up like this one. Like dunner stated , go to rv.net and see how it loads up if you can see it.

I'm just going to jump off the deep end here.

It would be nice to know how many "User Supporters" there are compared to the advertisement support. I'm going to say that the later far outweighs the small stipend that user supporters contribute.

This forum is free. There are no requirements for anyone to donate money. If every user were to donate $1 a month, and there are 100,000 users I'll state that the advertisements would go away upon request. Heck, $1 a year from all users may suffice.

Now, I enjoy the forum, the information gained, and the camaraderie experienced. I have met in person some very fine people who I have shared space on this forum with. To me, it's priceless.

Say what you want about any browser. They ALL have their problems. They all do not work the same way. When I was working at NASA as an IT Security Specialist the browser of NASA choice was Internet Explorer. The common user was thrilled being able to access the Internet, but it was not without IE problems. Even back in the '90's there was a problem with speed, and it was for various reasons, not just advertisements. Those of us who learned about different browsers downloaded them and started using them. Yes, the GUI (Graphical User Interface) is sometimes difficult to get used to but the human mind can adapt.

In my situation, if I were sitting here using IE (any version) and a web site was slow but it was reported that it was considerably faster with a different browser, well, I'd have two browsers open. One for my normal everyday speedy browsing, and the other for when I wanted to visit the slow page, then using Alt/Tab I'd switch back and forth. I believe my frustrations would be minimized.

Is there any logic in the world?

With the number of users on this forum I would suspect that there are come computer software engineers that could dive into this and provide some answers to the administrator. To just gripe about it is not going to solve a darn thing.

Happy trails.

I think they found it. IE (3.0 secs), FF (2.5 secs), Opera (1.8 secs). This was from when I click a thread until the page loaded.

Whatever they did, Opera loads irv2 faster than I have ever seen it. I wanna say faster than RV.net, but I would be lying. Even the search is faster than it has ever been. Search used to be slow, I didn't think I hit the enter key.
