Today I see a big improvement in opening the posts pages from the forums page. However accessing the forums page is still super slow.

Arg!!! A new problem.
IE8 is slightly faster to load a page at ~2.8 seconds (used to be 3), but when I click the back button, it hangs for ~20 seconds. This is going into and out of a "Section". Seems to work ok in and out of threads. When I click the Stop button, it either hangs with no control or I get the hour glass with no control. Now, Opera and FF are now slightly slower. Chrome is as inconsistent as it usually is.
Actually, all my browsers are slower or not as crisp in displaying a page.

Today, I was looking at the "Processes" listing in Win XP task manager and noticed two programs running that I didn't recognise, they were "SunKistEM" and "HPHa3mon".
I did a Bing search and found they needn't be in the start menu. I went into the Start Manager in my Norton Security program and turned them off. What a difference it has made to the response times on IRV2!
Last time I was on here, every page change took 55 seconds. Now it's less than 5, and there are almost no "100% CPU usage" messages. Definitely worth a try if you're still having slowness issues.

For what it's worth, when returning to the forums page from a posts page, the forums page displays fairly quickly and shows DONE at the bottom but I cannot scroll the window or anything else. Then just before I gain access to the page I see a url displayed twice very quickly with a reference to facebook.com. Is there something going on with running a facebook plugin that hangs the page for a while?

When I'm accessing using IE8, I too see something about facebook.com flash, extremely quickly, at the page bottom before the final Done is really done. The otherone is something about googleads & addoublclick.net They both go by so fast I can't catch what they really say.

Mike,
You are most likely using one of the browsers that requires all of the information, pictures, links to load before you can scroll. It's a common thing in many of the browsers.
Don't know about the facebook stuff, but if I get it I'll add it to the filter to block facebook.
Thanks.

The only thing that worked for me was installing Mozilla Firefox. Now I only use that browser for irv2 forums.

I am not a computer wizard and don't get into all the "ins and outs" of how things work, but I can tell you that every other website I'm on runs like a fox being chased by a hound......
I can pull up irv2 and it seems to take F O R E V E R to check the various forums that I want to see.
I know we live in an "instant" society where we want everything at our disposal in a short click of the button, but it is frustrating when we have all the newest equipment loaded with all the latest and greatest techo-stuff...
and still have to wait for the info we need to get to.
I know everyone is working hard to alleviate the situation and it is appreciated! Hopefully there'll be a revelation and a resolution soon!

It was doing really good for me for quite some time there but it slowed again for IE 9. Also my free ad blocker was working really well on here (no ad's and fast) and the "free" part expired, ad's are back..........slow now........I hate to spend more money on ad blockers for this website. Is there a ad blocker that will work and is free?
