I have no problem on my iPad or PC. Speed is fine. I use both the standard access to irv2 as well as the iPad app for it on my iPad. I like the standard format for reading but can't load photos unless I use the iPad app.

Really? Then how come sites running the same forum software load quicker then others sites using the same forum software?

My iPhone locks up on this forum only -- switch back to other apps ok -- just get Black Screen on this forum --- only way to get it to work is to power phone off -- then turn it back on and site works ok

Happens for me too, I'm running Windoze XP home and Firefox, Doze is what it does.
Happens if I open multiple tabs, Only need a few of them.. Other places I can open a dozen or more and it won't happen.. Suspect they are h itting us with a lot of graphics. I only show 3 tracker cookies so I don't think it's cookie overload. (They are blocked by the way)

For the Admins
I have a gut feeling it's whatever query mechanism you use to create the 'Recent Discussions' frame.
Right now there's 1451 users, so whatever table(s) are being queried for that data are being hit pretty hard. Indexing can only go so far. Especially when the read/update ratio is so high.
From a database design standpoint an appropriate response to this might be, if it is indeeed the real problem, to create a new table that contains the 'Recent Discussions' list with appropriate triggers to update the 'Recent Discussions' table when updates are done.
Big job to implement though...... But since I'm not the one making the changes it's EASY!
44+ years in software development, most of it working with databases.

Muddypaws isn't that what the "userCP" (way up top) already does. Whenever I want to look at threads I'm following I just click on that icon.

Did you know? If you turn on the option, you can get an email every time someone replies to a thread you are subscribed to. It contains a link to that thread or the choice to unsubscribe to that or and/or all thread.

It really helps to turn off the ads. In User CP you can shut off the right border ads. You can also do away with a bunch more using Fire Fox for your browser and get the Ad Block Plus.

It's very possible that some people are being targeted by an advertiser and that ad is hanging and causing the page to render slowly. I don't think that's the issue with Rusty's traceroute results but some of these other comments lead me to believe this might be a cause.
Muddypaws - if you can take a screen shot or grab the name of the advertiser that's causing your page to hang, that would be a great help for us. We need as much info as possible to try and track down the issue.

I have been on this forum since right after it was started, in 2000, the only problem I have had was when something was changed a few years ago and my post count was lost. Other than that no problems at all.
