Someone sent me a personal message on July 5. I was just notified today July 20th.
A little late.

I believe I have my notifications set to 'on' for private messages, but I never get notified that something has been sent to me. Is there some other setting I need to change??

Dave,

Your notification settings are correct, they should be coming to you @ d.nichols@earthlink.net, if not check your security settings. Sometimes stuff from our servers is blocked as spam.

I know the system is working correctly, I just received a notification of your post in my AOL email.

At the bottom of your Notification page the Suspend Subscriptions box was checked.

I have unchecked that box.

Let's see if it works now.

Thanks guys. I guess I didn't realize that private messages got caught in the same net as forum messages when I suspended notifications. I took this as a good opportunity to clean up that whole notification area.

I didn't either at first, but noticed that PM's were listed as Subscriptions.

We all learned something here.

I think I just learned something new about PM notifications. I just noticed I had a new PM reply from a couple of days ago that I never got notified about. Went hunting and clicked on Notifications on the PM page. In that drop down menu was another unchecked option to 'include replies'. I've now checked that box and we'll see what happens.

I made this a separate post in case a moderator needs to move it. Since turning off 'suspend subscriptions' I am getting a daily digest on any thread that I have posted on recently. That shouldn't be a problem except it sends a digest even when there hasn't been any posts. Seems like a waste of bandwidth and the only way I know to stop it is to delete those subscriptions since I still want to get private messages. Is there something else (another unchecked box) I should be looking for?

Hi Dave,

Yes, that's the way the software handles it... sends out the daily digest irregardless of posts or not. Thanks for posting, not sure we can change it in the immediate future though.
