I would suggest that every one go into their User CP and confirm all of the settings are to your needs. In the transfer, some of mine were scrambled.

Info question, will we have "new since your last visit option"? Or does one or both of the "recent threads' (right side of page) or "latest threads" (bottom of page) replace it.

Otherwise, like what I see, still learning way around.

Good job by all involved!!

Best,

Did you see the New Posts option on the menu bar above?

Question New Forum looks great BUT...

What is your system time set to. I am seeing messages with a 4:28PM Today time stamp which is not in any reasonable time zone that I can see. It is currently 10:49AM MST in Phoenix. We are not on DST. This equates to 1:49 PM EDST.

What gives?

Ahhh, it appears you are using UTC (formerly GMT) time.

Go to User CP > Edit Options and set your time zone. System time is GMT.

Am I correct that this new system will not allow me to receive thread comments at my email address? It seems that if I wish to read forums of interest that I must visit IRV2. Help please.

It was broke, it needed to be fixed. Just how broke was not obvious to the end user.

You can subscribe to threads. There's a link called "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread. The subscribe option is there.

I've subscribed to several forums but receive no emails, just notices that a response was made if I visited that forum. In looking at the tools, the only email option is to send a page to someone. Where am I going wrong.

If you guys were really worried about the folks on the slow connections, you wouldn't have taken a third of the page up with banners and google ads. It appears the engineer who set this up has a wide-screen flat monitor using at least a 1280x1024 resolution because on 1024x768, the actual forum portion is really narrow.

I also note that it took 2 days to do an overnight swap, perhaps a 1 day total. Now, I do this sort of thing for a living, so I have some experience with migration of data, so my opinion is a tad biased. For smoother migrations in the future, running twinned systems is the recommended method of migration, this allows you to beta test everything with a copy of the existing active sites data before you do the big swap, and tends to result in less admin/user headaches.

One final note, your migration used the "Visible Public Name" data instead of actual UserNames, which in my case added a user name with a whole lot of spaces in it. I'm guessing this was just a a mistake, or the vBulletin software doesn't have the separation of Public Visible Name vs User name, like other php driven chatroom apps, like Invision Power Boards, for example.

Forum subscriptions appear to be daily or weekly digests. Probably hasn't been time yet for a forum digest to be sent out. It's probably a batch job done overnight.

Individual thread subscriptions can be sent out immediately, if you selected that option.
