New Feature: Videos

Hello everyone! I just wanted to announce that we are testing a new feature that allows you to upload videos to your posts. When you click the "Manage Attachments" button, you should see an option to upload a video. Here is a screenshot:

Name:	Capture.JPG
Views:	244
Size:	32.3 KB
ID:	29759

It is also located right under the message area when you are making a new post/thread. If you add a video there, it will start uploading immediately.

I recommend starting with some small videos if possible. The current limit is 500MB for videos.

This is a new feature, and I expect there to be some bugs, so please do not hesitate posting problems that you may be having.

So to launch the first public video here, here you go:

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Where did you dig up that old Nuclear Preparedness video? I grew up in Los Alamos, NM where the atom bombs were assembled. We did "Drop and Cover" drills in elementary school. Knowing what we know now, the Duck and Cover would not have provided much protections from the radiation associated with an atomic bomb.

We also did the "Duck and Cover" drills in elementary school, this was in Horseheads, NY in the mid-sixties. No atom bombs being assembled there (as far as I know) I think those happened all over the US in those days.

Back on topic: Great new feature, admins!

When I was flying ultralights I posted a lot of videos. Now that we are getting into Rv'ing again (since early 90's) and getting one this year (DP) I thought it fair to warn everyone in advance . I think I have two still on youtube if you want to see a music video.

Just a Technical question for web master: wouldn't it be easier to embed youtube videos in web site instead of hosting them on your server?

glad to test it for you !!!

fyi, testing it with a 100 mg mp4...

loaded up about 10 meg per minute... (based on my 17gig uverse ISP)

finally after 10 minutes or so it got to 100%, flashed a few times and then said file is too large...

even though it was only 108 meg....

and on edit - it says this video is currently processing

The mobile app has pretty limited site views. It's really intended for the text based posting and many of the add-in features we have aren't fully functional.
