I've been trying for a week to get my registration accepted. Thanks to Dave we've gotten me logged into the forum through a different IP.

Here's what happened. I registered, rec'd my comfirmation letter, but the system would not log me in when I tried. I contacted Dave, who was able to login using my ID & password. But I still could not login using AOL so I tried a different IP. Success!

Dave deleted my registration to see if we could get it to work in AOL. Nope, this time it kept telling me I wasn't accepting the forum rules/policies, I did, three times. Gave up and came over to the other IP.

So you techies, what's going on?

Thanks, Robin

Robin, although I cannot help you with the connecting issue I do want to welcome you to the website and forum. I think that someone with far more experience with computers than I will chime in soon and give you a possible explination as to what was happening. Good luck and we look forward to reading your posts.

Hi Robin, glad to see your first post.

Has anybody had a problem logging onto iRV2 with AOL as their Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

Robin changed her Internet Explorer/AOL security settings to Medium and still no luck. Funny thing was, she was able to login when she originally registered but could not get back on afterward.

Two other thoughts Robin, (1) Are you running McAfee? You might want to try temporarily disabling it to see if that makes a difference (2) in your AOL/Internet Explorer settings, click on the security tab and enter iRV2 into the "Trusted Sites" section and be sure it's not in the "Restricted Sites" section.

There are a bunch of AOL users on iRV2 but this is the first time I ever heard of this happening.

Dave

Morning Dave, no I'm not running McAfee. I tried adding the website but it still will not accept my login. Funny thing, I tried with the wrong login name and the system told me it failed. But when I use the right login and password, after hitting login, it takes me right to the forum page. I'll probably always have additional IP's but AOL is the one I'm on the most so switching back & forth is a PITA. I'm going to go try another one, just because I'm curious.

I'm sending this message to you from AOL. I went to Yahoo and was able to login there. I closed that window, went to AOL and it shows me logged in. This makes no sense to me at all.

Welcome Robin, sorry you are having problems. Computers....can't live with them and can't live without them.

Robin, do you have broadband? One of our Members stated that he was not able to bring up the "post" box after he switched from AOL dialup to AOL broadband through DirectWay.

DAve, just a thought. Are we considered a pop up? If tehy have pop ups blocked maybe it is what is wrong. I am not a techie, but thought of this.

I'm on a cable modem. Really like that speed. Whatever is/was wrong seems to be OK now because I am posting to your from AOL after logging into it from Yahoo. But when logged into the site from Comcast it still would not show me logged in when I went to AOL. I better stop this I'm starting to confuse myself. If it hadn't been for Dave and some of his questions I never would have thought about going to the half a dozen other places available and trying to log on through them.

Tomorrow I'll try logging on right from AOL, is everybody's fingers crossed? That might do the trick.

Got my finger crossed for you Robin!

Now let me tell everyone about an interesting setup:

My neighbor, Dale Sharp (who bought our 98 Travel Supreme from us) is parked next to us in the campground. He has Verizon DSL and his Dell laptop is hard wired to a Verizon DSL/Wireless combo router they supplied.

We have a Dell desktop and HP laptop in our rig. (The Dell stays in the rig and the laptop travels on short trips - sorta like underwear and deodorant ) I installed a SMC wireless PC card in the laptop and a Linksys Wireless B PCI Adapter with an external directional Airlink antenna in the desktop.

This created our own personal WiFi setup so Dale, Tania and I can be on the Internet at the same time at DSL speeds and split the Verizon monthly cost!

Ain't it cool! (Now the really scary thing is that I'm beginning to understand this stuff.)

Dave

Dave, hopefully before too long we can easily ask "please pass the wifi" .

I did it, logged into the forum from AOL this morning. What ever glitch was happening seems to be resolved. Life is good.
