More often than not (so it is OK sometimes) I get a long search wait and the "New" list is over 4700. Usually first login each day but can happen several times a day. Later searches may give me only the new but I can never be sure until I try. Please advise on what I am doing wrong. Thanks

Trouble maybe with my spyware scan? Between me and the kids I think most cookies are being deleted automatically or dumped routinely.

I always seem to have a page or two of messages I've already read, but nowhere near 4700.
Try going to your profile, by clicking on GO, Personal Zone, Profile.
On the left side, click on Cookies, then click on #2 Delete all my cookies for this domain.
Give this a try, and let's see if this does it.
