Add a feature to the post that allows you to do a language check on your post so that you can make necessarily alterations to ones posts.
The swear filter here is.... "unique", and unlike many other forums doesn't simply blip out the words automatically, or reject the post and inform the user that they have inappropriate language (Depending on the degree of sophistication), but instead locks the posts and sends them to the admins, which in turn ties up the admins.
This kind of feature would allow people to police their own posts and eliminate any gray areas on what the filter does or doesn't allow.

Our software has no provisions for doing what you suggest. Most of our members don't have any problems with our filter, there's only a few who have multiple encounters with it. The filter is designed to allow socially acceptable language and to remove the gutter talk that's encountered on other forums.
Anyone who uses normal language will have no difficulties with it.

Do you have a copy of the entire swear filter (Basically a text file with a list of all the disallowed words) you can send me so I can design myself a censoring tool for my own posts? As I mentioned above, this forums one is "unique" and since the definition of "socially acceptable language" is open to quite a bit of interpretation depending on the group in question, I'd like to not run into any more problems.

Well, the problem I run into is I usually write alot of threads for other websites where the filtering is a bit different and then cut and paste the threads to a number of different communities.
However, I usually forget about the filters being far more stringent on iRV2 (Usually, site #3 or 4 in the posting order) and wind up slamming into the post lock.
Hence why I wondered if they there was the skill available to make the changes to the forum, or a copy of the bad words list so I could make a post cleaning web app that I could write my posts up in and run them through first before I made my round of posts.
I was going to offer to the general public when it was finished.

Joseph,
If you'll use the same language when posting here that anyone would expect to use when talking around a campfire with young children or grandkids within hearing range, you shouldn't have too much problem with our vulgar word filter. You have had much, much more problems with this issue than any of our other 32,727 members.
Get a grip man, this is a family site.
