I brought this up when the new website was put up and I have noticed that there are members who have joined before I did and members who have joined after I did that all of their post numbers posted but I know I have somewhere close to 800 posts and only maybe 150 something are shown. Why is this? Do these other members have more influence than me or just what is the deal?

jdoc,

The posts counts currently reflected are the actual amount of posts that are in the database at this time. Since you are a LONG time iRV2 member, the posts that appear to be missing are due to pruning that used to go on to keep the database size smaller. Unfortunately because of this pruning, we don't have any of the old posts.

Post counts do not count towards any hierarchical or influential status. In the future we might look at using some metrics to give members who have made a considerable contribution to the discussions some extra features but the cut off will probably be below the post count the system is showing for you now.

Andy

That's my point Andy. People who have joined after I did and way before this new website was put up (I'm talking 2 to 3 years) their post count continued after this new website was put up. All I'm going by is the joined date and the number of posts shown. Why did their post count continue and mine and probably some others didn't.
I understand they don't count for any status unless your a moderator or something else on this board.
I happen to agree with what Terry Nance said a couple weeks ago about this site going downhill. It has slowed down a whole lot since this new site was brought online and I know for a fact it is not my computers.
I'll get off my soap box now and let you take care of more important matters.
Jerry

jdoc,

All members post counts are going up as they post. The issue with the post count being lower is that the former owners pruned the posts from the database. They are gone, 100% wiped away and no longer exist anywhere. I wish there was some other solution to this but unfortunately the facts are the facts. They did this to save on costs as the hosting bills are sky high. We don't plan to prune posts ever again, all your posts will count.

Did you try disabling the right column to speed up the site? This seems to help with Internet Explorer version 7 and older. You can check which version of IE you are using from the Help >> About Internet Explorer.

You can learn more about turning off the right column at this discussion:
Converting Guests to Members and Disable Right Column

The old software apparently used a different method behind its post count display then? It might have sorted the posts for the count but it never went backwards? The switch to the new software is what i recall sent some counts backwards. The other software was kinda like a car's odometer.
I lost 400 at the switch i think, but am excited by that because i get to see 2,000 come again some time.

The post count in the old software never went down for any reason.

When we pruned/deleted old posts with the old software, the post count would remain the same regardless of how many posts were pruned/deleted.

The new software only counted the actual number of posts that were still available at the time we switched over. The new software didn't care about the displayed number of posts, it only counted the number of actual posts that were transferred.

Most of us had our post count go down when we switched to the new software.

Also, just to make sure everyone understands how the current software works, it does not count down for any reason. Each post you make adds one to your post count.

One other piece of info.

The old and new software have another thing in common.

When a member makes a post, all of their posts reflect the new count.

It may appear that one's post count is not going up as one's posts are not consecutively numbered.
