Step 1 is correct, but after that.......

After your picture is on your computer, you must upload the pic to a photo hosting website, such as our photo section here at iRV2.

Pictures cannot be displayed from your computer, but only from a web site.

Once your picture is uploaded to a web site, right click on the picture, click on properties, and copy the URL (address) of the picture. It must be the URL of the actual picture, not a thumbnail.

Click on the Display Image above your post, and paste the URL in the box.

Click OK, and you're done.

Hi All,

Hey Chickadee, someone else was also haveing problems and this was my post to them back on Dec. 2nd, and they said it helped them out so here it is and I hope it helps you out as well!!

First off the most important thing to remember about loading photos is this ! The registration for the "PHOTO" is seprate from "FOURM" ! So once you are resistred for photo click on login, then once loged in click on Upload then click on browse, and pick the photo you want from where it is stored! Now not that it realy matters, but here is what some of the terms mean !!

The name JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group

The name TIFF or TIF stands for Tagged Image File Format

The name GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format

Now remeber we want to have JPEG for iRV2 photo!

If you are not sure what format your photo is in, then right click on the photo then click properties and this should show you the format! Also some times before you open a file it will tell you just in the name like "AL'sRIG.JPEG" !!

Sorry it was so long and hope it helps some !

Al: So what "size" should the photo stored in my Windows "My Pictures" file be before I try uploading it to the iRV2 Photo Gallery? When I take a pic w. camera and download to to the "My Pictures" file on my laptop the size seems to range all over the place. If I R. click on a pic, one option is to "Resize" that pic and it gives me 5 options: Small (fits 640 x 480 screen) (Note: I don't know what unit this 640 x 480 means but presume bytes??); Medium (fits 800 x 600 screen); Large (fits 1024 x 768 screen); Handheld PC: (240 x 320); and finally, a "Custom" box letting me set the size I guess. Anyway, if I re-size the orig. I've elected to have re-sized duplicate inserted into the "My Pic" file retaining the orig. as well. Are any of these the correct size to upload to the iRV2 Photo Gallery? (Sorry, I know this is pretty elementary, but I don't know how to do it otherwise.) Steve

Hi Chickadee...if you resize to either medium or large size... you should be okay! I also do the duplicate the same as you.

Steve, the picture size you upload would be dictated by it's intended use.

Avatars should be approx. 100 x 75.

Approx 600 x 400 is a good size to upload for general pics. Click on My DSDP in my signature to see one of this size.

I think I did all the steps correctly to post a picture to the gallery. But it is stuck on a screen that has "image pending approval." Do I wait until a moderator approves it, or do I have to do something else. The first time is always the hardest.

Thank you.
Next is to be able to add it to the body of a post. Any pointers to do so?
