Political topics and irv2.com rules

I know political discussions and topics are not allowed in this forum. Why is the political add for Barack Obama garnering support for his anti-gun bill appearing above the boards? The add is at first glance not for either party, but when opened the true nature is obvious. This flies in the face of your website rules.
EDIT:: After posting, I now realize it is a rotating add, and will be harder to remedy-however it must be done to adhere to irv2.com rules. The alternative is to simply ignore forum rules if the add cannot be banned.

Here's a previous thread that explains it.
Won't be here until Political Ad's are GONE!

The constantly changing or rotating Google ads are based on each member's browsing or searching history. For example, if you visit a website for lawnmowers, you will see lawnmower ads.

If you are visiting CNN.com or Foxnews.com, etc. and click on a headline to read a story, you will see ads related to that story.

That's not my situation. I have private browsing on, never visit any similar websites or even participate in political websites, normally I have adblocker eliminating all irv2.com ads (which it does very well, thank you) but haven't gotten that far in setting up my new machine, I have my location blocked in Windows 8 too. What will be done to eliminate this threat to irv2.com? I know the site owner can have Google adds removed if the desire is strong enough. If removing the ads is not an option for the owners, at least give equal time to opposing viewpoints and open them for discussion.

Taking my Admin hat off....

I'm no expert, but have formed some theories on that ad. From what I can tell, Google can also key into posts one reads here. I do know that, before I got that rotating ad turned off for my browsing on iRV2, when I had been reading threads on certain topics, eventually those rotating ads began displaying in the theme of what I was reading right here. I don't go to any political sites either, but the Google ad would, sooner or later, display such content if I was reading a thread that was headed down that road.

I also wouldn't put it past Google to key in on the tag line in your signature, Ray, picking up on the words ""Constitution", "government" & Supreme Court Justice"...hence you seeing ads themed along or even opposed to those words.

I realize those ads are frustrating to some. I browse with Firefox+AdBlock & don't even see that rotating ad. I used to browse with IE8 & used InPrivate Filtering & InPrivate Browsing to eliminate that ad. Assuming (because I don't know the answer) SK Knowledge wants the Google ad on iRV2, there are ways to not see it. One has to figure out what works with what browser/browser version.

Putting the hat back on now...

One thing to keep in mind, upon registering here, members agree to abide by our Community Rules. With all due respect, stating "The alternative is to simply ignore forum rules if the add cannot be banned." is not the solution. Believe me, we won't go down that crooked path.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

I now have everything setup with Firefox as I did on my old machine. Now I do not see any ads whatsoever_again. I also have anything "Google" blocked now; at least until they find a way to circumvent Mozilla's open code.
I would think the owner would rather we see, and visit RV-related ads, than sell ad space that had absolutely nothing to do with RVing and know they cause members to block all ads to eliminate one or two offensive ads. That is just my opinions on the matter, and of course it's the owners website to manage any way he desires. That said, I consider this thread closed and will not open it again.
