Post character length

When trying to reply to another post I keep getting the message
"The text that you have entered is too long"
I don't think my reply is any longer than other posts Ive seen. Is there a maximum character length to a post?

Wow, I've been long-winded at times, but never saw that message. I have seen "Post too short."

There is a 3 character minimum and a 40000 upper limit. Sometimes if you are writing in word and then copy/paste you see this as the system sees all the MS word coding as well and counts it.

Thanks, that is exactly what happened. I had copied and pasted a word doc.

If this is a chronic problem for you and you are using a regular browser, there is a simple solution.

Paste in your text, then highlight it all (as though you are going to copy it), then click on the icon in the top left of the reply editor that looks like this: A/A

That should remove most of the extra microsoft added coding.

You might have to go through your post and add back any formatting you need using the same set of tools at the top of the editor afterwards.
