If you have a new PM, you'll see an indicator box that says "New PM" at the top toolbar along with the Go, New, Find, etc. boxes. To review your received and sent PMs, go to the toolbar and select Go > Personal Zone > Personal Messaging.

I'll send you a test PM so you can see if the notification pops up.

You can get email notification of PMs also;

Click on Go,

Go to Personal zone, and click on Notifications.

In the private messages section, click on Edit.

Check the box for Imediate Notification by email, and the box for include replies.

Then click on Update My Notification.
