You will lose the Recent Thread Topics list that's in that column, but if you want less ads, it's what you have to do.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Some Social Knowledge sites have a daily newsletter one can sign up for, without being a registered member. We don't. The pop up toggle is so you can shut off that ad. It can be annoying as it's an ad that asks one to sign up for the daily newsletter & it "pops up" in the middle of your screen, similar to a PM alert.

After reading this thread I learned I'm not the only one with slow loading pages. Didn't realize it was because of all the adds. I do have a 15gig download speed, but still slow. Based upon some comments about the speed of FireFox, I did download and am now using. Wow is it faster and so much better than IE. Thanks to you all and the OP or starting this thread!!

Anytime one has an issues with page loads due to ads, the first steps to take are those stated in my post 13. That'll remedy 99% of the problems.

Even Microsoft tacitly admitted IE is a problem when they came out with their new browser. Firefox and Chrome are both better.

FWIW if you run a program like ghostery that lists all the connections to add sources etc this is not too bad a site. There are others with 15-20 or more links to load skimming information on site users.
