Rating ? and Subscriptions?

I am new to posting and I have questions:

What is a "Rating" if follows the topic subject?
How are posts rated?
By whom?
Where do I find a list of the "Rating" icons and their meaning?

What is a subscription?
How do they work?

Members can rate threads. Ratings are based on each members individual assessment of the value of that thread to them. To rate a thread, you click on the Rate Thread tab at the top right of the thread. The meanings in drop down list are pretty self explainatory.

A subscription is a notification when a member posts to a thread. If you're interested in following a particular thread topic, click on the Thread Tools tab, again at the top right of the thread. Choose Subscribe to this Thread. Whenver a member posts in a thread you subscribed to, you will get notification of the post. If you post in a thread, you will automatically get notifications of new posts to that thread, unless you don't want to. In that case, you can Unsuscribe from the thread when you see it in your User CP listing or by clicking on the Thread Tools tab & choosing Ignore This Thread (has a little caution triangle with a ! in it).
