RSS Feed

Anyone that has seen my complaints about the new software know that I am not one of its fans. I just don't like it. Plus, I liked getting the digest format and don't like the new format that requires me to really connect to the internet to read the messages. My preference being to download & go.....reading at my leisure without not having to be on-line.

Well, we don't always get what we want . However, I have discovered an alternative that although not as friendly as the digest, but a LOT more friendly than the current options (at least for me). So I'm sharing in case anyone else finds this beneficial.

I use Microsoft Outlook as my mail client. This may work with other mail programs, but I can't tell you how. With MS Outlook you have the option of receiving RSS feeds and each forum you have interest in can be set up as a feed. If you do this wrong or don't like the way you did it you can delete and do again or not as you choose.

I set up a folder structure with IRV2 as the main folder and subfolders for Newmar Owners, Allison, Cummins, etc for the downloading of the messages. Just as an aside I initially did it all into the IRV2 folder with no subfolder and it was a mess for me. I prefer the subject structure so I know what I'm reading. The messages download just like email. You can choose to have pictures download along with the message if you like.

Now I can download and read at my leisure. You will still have to connect to reply or post, just like always. Hope this helps someone else find a better solution. Now I'm back reading IRV2 on a regular basis again!

What an interesting approach !!

I can see a big advantage if you go on a trip and do not have an internet connection...when you return you can read the info you otherwise would have to maybe search for or sort through to find your key interests latest info...hmmm!

Thanks for sharing this idea.
