The following is a quote from a statement I found at the top of the main forum page this morning:
"On Monday November 17th, at 11:00 PM Eastern, our software provider will be upgrading our site and services. Though the look and feel of both our Eve and our web services panel will stay the same, the upgrade will make our Eve faster and more scalable than ever".

For us non-geeks, what is the "Eve" and why do I want it to be faster?

Why do want it to be more "scalable than ever"?

What is the "web services panel?"

I'm sure this will be an improvement for all of us. I just wanted to know what to look for when it's complete.

'Eve' is the name of the software we buy, if you'll notice at the bottom of the page it reads "powered by eve community". This is an upgrade that we expect will enhance the way the the site runs.

Scalability indicates the ability to handle growing amounts of work in a graceful manner or to be readily enlarged.

When it's all done you probably won't see any difference to how the site looks, it'll just work better. The announcement was put up more for the fact to inform members that we'd be out of service than for the technical mumbo jumbo.

Maybe we said too much, we'll adjust the verbiage to read easier.
