Lightbulb Separate Weapons Area?

Can we please have a separate discussion area for discussions about issues specific to weapons? It would make it easy for users to join or ignore a subject that can be touchy to many.

Couldn't people just ignore what they don't want to read? It seems to work for me.

Not what?

Not allow those discussions at all?

I'm not taking a position on what IRV2 allows. That is their business. I'm just asking for folks to have a tool too either opt in or out. How can choice be a bad thing?

Then having a separate area that can be ignored or subscribed to would allow for that without having to do it on individual message basis.

What's wrong with that?

Since we are a RV oriented site, a weapons forum would not be in keeping with our Mission Statement.

Firearms/weapons discussions have always been a hot button topic and we had to implement this rule;

  • General discussions of politics, general government policies, weaponry, gun rights and religion are not allowed in ANY areas of iRV2. Discussions about current or pending legislation or regulations, weapons and religion that directly pertain to RVing are acceptable but will be closed or removed if they wander off topic or become disruptive.

True but they always occur and you folks do a good job keeping them in context of RVing.

IMHO, you would be better served having a separate area for those RV related issues that always come up. In fact, I suggest that a separate area would actually reduce some tensions between those that have diametric opinions on the subject.

I'm kinda finding it funny that anyone would be against a separate area that allows users to selectively participate in this kinds of subject that can be disruptive. Anyone that says there isn't some serious passion on the subject is not being truthful.

As Dirk stated, we're an RV-ing forum & we do not want to promote any more firearm discussions than we already have to deal with by creating a weapons section.

If everyone would just abide by our site rules on the subject & post accordingly, we wouldn't have problems. But then, our moderators would have nothing to do now, would they?

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?
